The Isimba HPP was commenced on April 30, 2015. With unremitting efforts, all the participants in the project presented the most sincere New Year's greeting to the Ugandan people. From now on, continuous green electricity was provided to the local people, and new vitality was injected into the economic and social development of Uganda.

Being known as the “Pearl on the White Nile”, the Isimba HPP was built by CWE in EPC mode. The total installed capacity is 183MW. The main work scope includes a powerhouse with four Kaplan turbines, a spillway, left and right bank earth-rock dams, a switching yard, and 42km long 132kV transmission lines.
