Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni attended the completion ceremony of the Isimba Hydropower Project on March 21, 2019. More than 5000 Chinese and Ugandans gathered at the ceremony to witness this magnificent moment.

At the ceremony, President Museveni conferred honors to outstanding Chinese and Ugandan staff who made prominent contributions during the project construction. CWE’s project representative Wang Yongtian and assistant project manager Li Hongxu were awarded the honor.

Thanks to joint efforts of all construction partners, the Isimba Hydropower Project was put into commissioning on time. The national electricity supply capacity in Uganda was thus increased by 19%, effectively alleviating the power shortage and lowering the high tariff in the country. The awarding by the President is not only a recognition of the outstanding performance by CWE staff and an affirmation of the day-and-night perseverance of the construction team, but also a praise to CTG and CWE.

In his speech, Mr. President stated that this project would provide steady electricity supply for all industries of Uganda and welcomed CWE to actively participate in more hydropower construction and development in Uganda.
