The Ugandan Post Office officially issued a series of stamps with the theme of the Isimba Hydropower Station on May 15, 2019. The total number of these stamps is nine, with face value ranging from 700 to 20,000 Uganda Shillings.
Constructed by CWE in the EPC mode, the Isimba Hydropower Station has a total installed capacity of 183.2MW and annual average generation of 1.039 billion kWh. The main structures include the powerhouse, spillway, two gravity connection dams, clay-core rock-fill dams on both banks, and transmission lines.
Upon the full operation of the Isimba hydropower station in early 2019, the national electricity supply capacity in Uganda has been increased by 19% and the annual power generation increased by 1/5, effectively alleviating the domestic power shortage and making it possible to export power to neighboring countries
A grand completion ceremony of this hydropower station was held by the Ugandan government on March 21. At present, the power station has been taken over by the employer for commercial operation.
