A fish releasing ceremony was held by the Namseng River at the Napa substation of the 500kV Xiangkhouang-M. Naxaythong transmission line project, which is associated to the Nam Ngiep 2 hydropower station, by Nam Ngiep 2 Power Co. Ltd. (the Company) along with officials from the Phaxay county government of Xiangkhouang province in the morning of July 16, 2019. The company employees, project staff, officials of the county government, and local villagers, over 100 people in total, were in presence.

Fries of 30000 nos. tilapia, 18000 nos. carps, and 2000 nos. silver carps, fit for the basin water quality and surrounding environment at the power station, were released. This activity was applauded by the local residents. Mr. Bouavone Vongpanya, deputy of the Phaxay county government, commented on the significance of such an event on the Lao’s Wild & Aqua Life Day of July 13 and expressed gratitude to the Company for its concern and support in an effort to preserve the aquatic biodiversity in the Namseng River and improve the living environment of local residents.

In response to the call of Laos, this event made scientific and reasonable supplement of fish resources in the basin of the power station, so that the fish resources and species diversity could be restored and maintained. It also signified the Company’s action to promote the eco protection and raise the awareness of all people.
