China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) is CWE’s parent company. As part of the initiative to build the Three Gorges Project and develop the Yangtze River, with the approval of the State Council, China Three Gorges Project Corporation was founded on September 27, 1993. On September 27, 2009, the Corporation changed its name to “China Three Gorges Corporation” (CTG). Over more than two decades of continuous and rapid growth, CTG has become the largest clean energy business group in China and one of the largest hydropower developers in the world.


CTG is strategically positioned as a clean energy business group specialized in large-scale hydropower development and operation. Its main lines of business include hydropower construction and management, power generation, international investments and engineering contracting, development of wind power, solar power and other new energies, comprehensive development and utilization of water resources, relevant professional and technical consulting services, etc. With the authorization of the Chinese government, CTG assumes full responsibilities for the construction and operation of the Three Gorges Project as well as the development of four world-class mega-size cascade hydropower stations; namely, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Wudongde, and Baihetan on the lower reaches of the Jinsha River in China. By 2020, CTG is expected to possess five out of the world top 10 mega hydropower plants in terms of installed capacity, and would own more than two thirds of all the 700MW+ water turbine generator sets in the world. In its efforts to develop other renewable energies, moreover, CTG is committed to become a leader in offshore wind power development.


To date, CTG has achieved a controllable installed capacity of 64,540MW, in which 11,000MW is from overseas. All units of CTG, including those completed, under construction, and by equity, are in clean energies and has a total installed capacity exceeding 110,000MW. As of the end of 2015, CTG’s total assets has reached RMB 563.37 billion, ranking on the top among all state-owned enterprises in China in terms of total profits, net profits attributable to the parent company, ratio of profits to costs, all-personnel labor productivity, per capita profit, and per capita taxes paid, etc.

 

CTG has 24 wholly-owned and holding subsidiaries and two holding listed companies, including China Three Gorges Construction Management Co., Ltd., China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd., China Three Gorges International Corporation, China Three Gorges New Energy Co., Ltd., and China International Water and Electric Corporation. By the end of 2015, CTG has approximately 22,000 employees within Chinese territory and over 15,000 employees at abroad. Among them, there are about 100 experts who receive State Council Allowances, two Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and three nationally recognized outstanding experts.
