CWE Assists in Ecuadorian Flood-fighting in Rainy Season

Update:2014-03-06

With 9-day consecutive efforts, CWE completed the flood control and emergency works of the Canar Flood Control Project on the Tixay River in Ecuador on 29th January, 2014.

The Tixay River, located at the upper reaches of the SAN FRANCISCO River, Naranjal city, is beyond the project construction area. The Tixay River has become an aboveground river as its bed height exceeds the surrounding surface due to disordered excavation and silting-up all year round. In every rainy season, the river floods over its banks, causing difficulties to lives of the residents.

Informed of the flood hazards at the Tixay River, CWE immediately organized water experts and construction experts for site inspection and design argument, made a plan for discussion with the Employer and the Engineer, and finalized the construction plan of 2.2 km open channel excavation. The construction was started on January 20 and completed on January 29 with 24-hour works to a total excavation quantity of nearly 70,000m3.

Through this flood-fighting, CWE has successfully demonstrated its outstanding management ability and resolution to fulfill social responsibility, spreading its brand to the local communities and winning praises from the Employer, the Engineer, and local residents.
