New waterworks contract signed in Hong Kong SAR

A Contract for the Waterworks District L-Lantau and the Outlying Islands Contact Period 1.9.2014-31.8.2017 was newly signed between CWE (Hong Kong) and the Water Supplies Department of HK SAR on 5th August, 2014.


This contract is mainly for the routine maintenance of waterworks. With a contract value of HKD160,000,000 (USD20,510,000 in equivalent), the project is of a construction period of 3 years starting from 1st September, 2014. Its main work includes the topographical survey, pipe laying, slope works, construction of small structures, pipe maintenance and repair, access roads, diversion tunnels, pump stations, a reservoir, a filter plant, ponds, river channels, and water facilities, as well as repair of related roads and emergency repairs. CWE Project Management is now establishing an emergency repair group in preparation for emergencies after the project commencement.


Similar to the Maintenance Contract for Seawalls and Navigation Channels in Hong Kong awarded to CWE in last year, this contract was applied with the New Engineering Contract (NEC) documentation proposed by HK SAR. Based on experience on operation and practice of NEC, CWE pledges to give full play to "partnership" in this project for an excellent execution and wishes to accumulate more experience in management and improve the company’s professional competence in the field of waterworks.
