Consul General of China in Guayaquil inspects Canar Project, Ecuador

Consul General of China in Guayaquil Lei Tongli, accompanied by CWE project manager Zhang Yixin, inspected the Canar flood control project on December 19, 2015 and sent his new year’s greetings to CWE employees on site.


During his inspection, Consul General Lei took time to check food freshness and hygiene at the site canteen and listened to a report thereof. Satisfied with the work, he stressed that food safety should be given equal attention as work safety.


The Consul General also talked with Chinese employees and fully affirmed the construction progress and good image of the project. Showing satisfaction to the company’s execution ability and achievements made in labor management and environment protection, he pointed out that the Canar project had set a good example for other Chinese companies working overseas in terms of proactive working style and way of handling issues. He called for continuous efforts of all Chinese employees to ensure the early completion of the project with quality to alleviate the possible threat of El Nino and benefit the locals.


With total investment of over USD 400 million, the Canar flood control project is the largest flood-fighting work in Ecuador and Latin America. Upon its completion, the project will protect 141 thousand hectares of land from flood in the neighboring region. The project is to be completed and taken over by January, 2016.
