Safety training and promotion hosted at Isimba HPP in Uganda
A full-staff oriented comprehensive training and promotion on safety was carried out by CWE’s Isimba Hydropower Project Management in Uganda from April 20 to 30, 2016.
The project has entered its construction peak period, with more than 2,000 Chinese and local staff working on it. To allow a well understanding of the construction safety by all employees, the project management organized Chinese and local safety engineers to provide the safety training courses, respectively for Chinese and locals.
The safety engineers pertinently gave lessons on risk factors and safety hazards to be possibly encountered by professions and works, explained relevant labor disciplines and safety operation rules, and made specific elaborations and requirements in aspects of the wear and use of labor protection appliances, the construction safety precautions at dangerous areas, the access control security in construction areas, the safety inspection on traffic vehicles and the safety training of drivers.
Over the same period, the project management organized first-aid and fire control training and drills, posted 63 safety publicity posters, which added fuel to the safety education training and promoted the staff’s awareness of safety.
These effective safety training and promotions further strengthened the safety awareness of the whole staff, popularized safety knowledge, enhanced safe production skills, standardized construction operations, thus enabled all construction teams of various works and professions to consciously abide by relevant labor disciplines, avoid “three violations”, achieve “four harmless”, eliminate safety hazards, and effectively prevent safety accidents, laying a solid foundation for the well progress of the construction at its height.
