Delegation of Muaritius government inspects Bagatelle Dam Project

The Bagatelle Dam Project, undertaken by CWE, started impounding in Mauritius on December 22, 2016, which was widely reported by mainstram media, including Mauritian National Television, local major newspapers and radio stations, and Xinhua News Agency in Africa.

 

At 15:00 pm local time on December 27, 2016, Hon. Ivan Leslie COLLENDAVELLOO, the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Tourism of Mauritius, led a delegation of more than 50 ministers and senior officials from 11 ministries, including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Commerce,the Ministry of Social Security and others, paid a visit to the project site. Charge d'affaires of China's Embassy in Mauritius Chen Zhihong and the First Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office Zhang Yang attended the event.

 

After arriving at the project, the delegation listened to a report made by the  Employer on the project profile and implementation process, and showed satisfaction towards the project construction and achievements made by CWE, who focused on work quality, progress control, safety and environmental protection, and made a significant contribution to the timely impounding of the project. After the briefing, the delegation went to the dam site to inspect the construction progress of the dam traffic bridge, spillway and water impoundment.

 

The delegation congratulated on the completion of main works and the impoundment on schedule, indicating that the Bagatelle Dam Project, as a major project solving serious water shortage, has shown CTG and CWE’s remarkable capabilities and achievements in dam construction. The completion of the dam will benefit the local people by easing the tension of local water supply, improving water supply capacity and especially has far-reaching significance of protecting some important areas or those faced with severe water shortage, including the capital of Mauritius Port Louis, Black River and the lower reaches Plaines Wilhems District.(Translator: Zhang Yan, Proofreader: Ma Li)
