Rucalhue Hydropower Station Project in Chile Donates Traditional Cultural Supplies to Indigenous Communities

Release time:2025-04-15

Recently, the Project Management Department of Rucalhu Hydropower Station Project in Chile donated a batch of traditional costumes and musical instruments with ethnic characteristics to the community of Pehuenche (Pewenche) indigenous people in the east of Santa Bárbara City, in support of local cultural preservation efforts.
The donation comprised handcrafted silver ornaments, traditional drums, flutes, and traditional costumes, specifically designated for use by the local indigenous community during important cultural events such as New Year celebrations and ritual ceremonies. This initiative aims to support the preservation and development of local traditional culture. During the procurement process, the Project Management Department fully respected the indigenous community’s right to cultural expression by inviting community representatives to participate throughout. They meticulously selected representative traditional artifacts to ensure the cultural authenticity of all donated items. This donation helps boost local youth’s cultural identity and commitment to cultural inheritance, and has demonstrated cultural identification and emotional respect of the Project Management Department for the indigenous people, according to community leader José Mariván.
This initiative is an important measure for the Project Management Department to fulfill its social responsibility and promote cultural diversity. In the future, while advancing project development, the Project Management Department will, as always, actively fulfill its responsibilities and make further contributions to the development of the local community and the protection of traditional culture.
