Helping and Supporting Each Other: Lao Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Station Supports Post-Disaster Recovery in Muang Feuang, Laos

Release time:2025-10-31

Affected by the recent typhoon and heavy rainfall, water levels in the Nam Lik River basin in Laos rose sharply, damaging farmland along the riverbanks and severely impacting the production and living of the residents. To help affected residents overcome difficulties, the Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Station responded to the call of the Muang Feuang Government by actively donating materials and funds to support local post-disaster relief and livelihood restoration.
Representatives from both parties held a donation handover ceremony at the Muang Feuan government and expressed their commitment to strengthening communication and cooperation in disaster prevention and mitigation, and jointly safeguarding the lives and property of residents along the Nam Lik River. This donation included rice, instant food, drinking water, and designated relief funds in support of post-disaster recovery and reconstruction in affected villages.

As an important clean energy project of the Company in Laos, the Nam Lik hydropower station has strictly fulfilled environmental and social management requirements since commissioning. In collaboration with the local government, it took the lead in establishing an "enterprise + government" flood control liaison and emergency response mechanism in Laos. Furthermore, the station regularly organizes flood emergency drills and disaster prevention publicity activities to continuously enhance the disaster prevention and self-rescue capabilities of residents along the river basin. During this typhoon, the station strictly complied with relevant regulations and dispatch procedures of the Lao government and exerted its professional strengths to work jointly with the Muang Feuang Government on reservoir dispatching, downstream notifications, and safety warnings, ensuring the safety of communities downstream of the reservoir area. Mr. Bounkhong Nammavong, Minister and Head of the Prime Minister's Office of Laos, and Ms. Keo Chantavixay, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of Laos, successively visited the Nam Lik hydropower station for on-site inspection and research. They fully affirmed the station's scientific and regulated flood-control dispatching and emergency response and expressed hope that the station would continue strengthening disaster prevention and mitigation cooperation with the local government to contribute further to ensuring basin safety.

Looking ahead, the Company will continue to fulfill its responsibilities as a Chinese enterprise, actively perform its social responsibilities, serve local economic and social development, and work together with all sectors in Laos to build a safe, harmonious, and sustainable river basin environment.
