On September 4, Wan Qizhou, General Manager of CWE, met with Ismael Nabe, Guinea’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and Muhammedou Abdoulaye Diallo, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works. The officials, who were in China for the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, engaged in discussions aimed at further deepening pragmatic cooperation.
Wan expressed gratitude for the Guinean government’s support and assistance and provided an overview of CWE’s history and its operations in Guinea. He highlighted that Guinea was a significant market for CWE, which had constructed and been operating the Kaleta and Souapiti Hydropower Stations in the country, contributing to local green and low-carbon development and improving the quality of life for the local people. While ensuring the efficient operation of both power stations, CWE is eager to continue offering its expertise and high-quality services, participating extensively in Guinea’s development in hydropower, new energy, and infrastructure, thereby playing a greater role in advancing Guinea’s socio-economic development.
Ministers Ismael Nabe and Muhammedou Abdoulaye Diallo acknowledged and appreciated the contributions made by CWE to Guinea’s power sector. They noted the deep friendship between China and Guinea and recognized CWE as a key strategic partner in Guinea’s energy and power sector. The Guinean government is keen to work together with CWE to overcome challenges. With Guinea’s economy rapidly developing and a significant demand for electricity, both parties are hopeful of promoting practical cooperation in new energy and power infrastructure sectors to aid in the reform of Guinea’s electricity sector and achieve high-level socio-economic development.
Personnel from CWE’s Market Development Department and the CWE Guinea Limited Liability Company also participated in the discussions.
