On September 3, Wang Tongzhou, Chairman of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), hosted a meeting at CCCC Building with Kenyan President William Ruto, who was visiting China to attend the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Zhou Pingjian, the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, also participated in the discussions.
President Ruto expressed his gratitude for CCCC’s warm hospitality and highly praised CCCC’s longstanding contributions to infrastructure development in Kenya. He acknowledged CCCC as a reliable partner of the Kenyan government and people, with a solid foundation of cooperation and deep friendship between both parties. Ruto expressed his hope that CCCC would continue to leverage its professional and experiential advantages to further increase the quality of resources committed to Kenya, aiming for a mutually beneficial cooperation. The Kenyan government also pledged continued support for CCCC’s operations in Kenya.
Wang Tongzhou welcomed President Ruto’s visit to CCCC and appreciated the Kenyan government’s longstanding trust and support. He highlighted that since entering the Kenyan market in 1984, CCCC has successfully implemented several landmark projects, including the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, Lamu Port Berths 1-3, and the Nairobi Expressway. CCCC places great importance on its operations in Kenya and is committed to fully implementing the cooperation consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, utilizing its full industrial chain advantages to deepen cooperation in relevant business sectors and contribute significantly to the deepening of Sino-Kenyan friendship and cooperation.
During his visit to CCCC, President Ruto toured the CCCC Exhibition Hall.
The event was attended by relevant personnel from the Kenyan government and Chen Zhong, Deputy General Manager of CCCC. Jiang Shouguo, Vice Chief Economist of CCCC and Chairman of CWE, participated in the discussions, expressing CWE’s desire to leverage its expertise in water resources, power, and clean energy sectors to support green development as a key component of Kenya’s high-quality development. President Ruto responded positively, outlining Kenya’s development vision to achieve 100% clean energy utilization by 2030 and welcoming CWE’s active participation in realizing this vision. He assured that the Kenyan government would provide necessary support for the construction and investment of related projects.
