On March 25, an inspection team led by Mr. Viengsay CHANTHA, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Industrial Safety Management under the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Laos, carried out a safety inspection at Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Station (hereinafter referred to as the “hydropower station”).

　　The inspection team visited core areas including the powerhouse and main structures of the dam, listened to the briefing from the management team of the hydropower station on power generation production status and dam safety management, and examined in particular the operation and maintenance of the hydropower station, the safety management of the dam, and the implementation of industry guidelines. Moreover, the inspection team conducted an in-depth exchange on the safety monitoring technologies for the dam. Mr. Mr. Viengsay CHANTHA fully recognized the safety management and control system of the hydropower station. He emphasized that to ensure the safe and stable operation of the hydropower station, the management team of the hydropower station should continue to enhance flood prevention monitoring to obtain timely and accurate hydrological data during the flood season; and continue strengthening equipment maintenance to ensure that all types of equipment in the hydropower station remain in good operating condition.

　　This inspection fully demonstrates the Laos government’s high regard for the operational safety of the hydropower station. In the future, the hydropower station will enhance technical collaboration with Laos to collectively fortify work safety measures, guarantee safe and reliable operations of the hydropower station, and safeguard the energy supply and economic development of Laos.
