Release time:2025-06-27

On June 22, Peruvian Prime Minister Eduardo Arana inspected the Huaykrolo River Comprehensive Management Project in Peru (hereinafter referred to as the "Project"). He was accompanied by Hernán Yaipén, the Minister of National Infrastructure Management Authority of Peru, Nelly Castañeda, General Manager, and Oswaldo Vargas, Mayor of Lurigancho, where the project is located. The visit was covered live by major local media outlets, including Peru's National Television and Lurigancho City Television.

Prime Minister Arana and his delegation toured key areas of the Project, including the concrete U-shaped river channel, Bailey Bridge, and landscape park. They then visited the project camp, where the head of CWE's Peruvian branch briefed them on the company's achievements in water conservancy and hydropower in the country. The delegation also held a discussion with the project management team. Prime Minister Arana praised the Project's accomplishments and emphasized its importance as a vital part of Lima's disaster prevention and mitigation efforts. Once completed, the Project will protect 30,000 households along the riverbank from flood risks. Additionally, the river channel restoration and ecological rehabilitation efforts will boost the region's agricultural and tourism industries. Mayor Vargas also commended CWE's strong commitment, highlighting its close collaboration with the government and local communities throughout the construction phase. He emphasized that CWE's efforts have effectively advanced vital public welfare projects as expected.

The Project stretches 10.6 km and involves key tasks such as river channel clearance, riverbank protection, flood control infrastructure, and equipment commissioning. Upon completion, the Project will significantly improve the flood control and drainage capacity of the Huaykrolo River Basin and provide a reliable response to natural disasters caused by the El Niño Phenomenon. Since its inception, the Project has adhered to the principles of “consultation, joint construction, and shared benefits”, earning high praise from various stakeholders for its effectiveness and people-focused initiatives. These efforts have contributed to enhancing the reputation of Chinese enterprises in Peru.
