On April 24, 2024, the launch ceremony for the 5th 2024 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Art & Design Award was held in Beijing. Distinguished attendees included Gao Anming, Editor-in-Chief of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Zhao Chenggang, minister counsellor of the Department of Asian Affairs of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Daw Zin Mar Htwe, Deputy Ambassador and minister counsellor of Embassy of Myanmar in China, and Xia Jun, Director of the Publicity and Education Center at the Ministry of Natural Resources. The event also saw participation from diplomats from the Mekong countries, representatives of the sponsors and co-organizers, and guests from media, universities, civil organizations, and businesses from both China and abroad.CWE,a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company, participated as a co-organizer.

The 5th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Art & Design Award 2024 was supported by the special fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. It was jointly sponsored by several institutions including the China Center for International Communication Development, the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Yunnan University, the Yunnan International Communication Center for S&SE Asia, Thammasat University in Thailand, the National University of Laos, the Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia, and the Phaung Daw Oo School in Myanmar. CWE, along with China General Nuclear Power Group, Chinese Cultural Heritage Protection Foundation, and Beijing MW Foundation, co-organized the event. Since its inception in 2020, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Art & Design Award has been held annually, gaining significant recognition and influence as an international art and design event within the Lancang-Mekong region. This year’s theme, “Green Power, Lancang-Mekong’s New Day”, inspires designers to create innovative and expressive works using images and themes from CWE’s hydropower projects and other energy cooperation content in the Lancang-Mekong region. The winning designs will be showcased at high-end exhibitions and forums across multiple countries, enhancing cultural exchange and connectivity among the six Lancang-Mekong countries, promoting CCCC’s brand projects, and expanding market and cooperation opportunities.

During the launch ceremony, Gao Anming and Zhao Chenggang, among other representatives, delivered speeches both offline and online. CWE’s representatives and others unveiled the award theme poster together.

The event runs from April to November 2024. During this period, CWE will also represent CCCC in conducting field visits to power stations, engaging in the “Lancang-Mekong Book House Project”, public welfare classes, and other activities. These initiatives are aimed at deepening the corporate image, strengthening brand cooperation, enhancing the company’s reputation and influence, and creating a favorable public opinion environment for business cooperation.
