Recently, the volunteer team of Hong Kong Branch participated in the “Elderly Home Visit” volunteer activity organized by the Kwun Tong Methodist Social Service (KTMSS). A group of volunteers in “blue vests” walked into the Kwun Tong community to deliver care supplies and compassion to the elderly, conveying warmth in winter through practical actions.
Kwun Tong is one of Hong Kong’s communities with the highest proportion of elderly residents and the lowest median household income. Prior to the activity, the organizers conducted a specialized training session for the volunteers on the visit procedures, communication skills, and precautions to ensure a professional and meticulous service process. The volunteers were then divided into four groups to pay home visits, delivering “care packages” containing dairy products, pastries, tea bags, vegetables, and other daily necessities to the elderly to convey their care and support.
A total of nine elderly households were visited during this activity. One who left a particularly deep impression was an 80-year-old man living alone, Uncle Chen. He warmly invited the volunteers into his home for a chat, sharing stories of the tremendous changes in Hong Kong before and after its return to China. He spoke highly of the achievements of China’s reform and opening up, expressing great pride as a Hong Kong resident in witnessing the motherland’s remarkable development. He added that seeing such responsible young volunteers today made him confident in the promising future of the younger generation and the country. The volunteers listened attentively and nodded frequently, responding to Uncle Chen that they would carry forward the spirit of friendship and mutual assistance through volunteering, contributing their strength to Hong Kong and the nation. What was even more surprising was that Uncle Chen immediately recognized the volunteers as CCCC’s “Blue Vests”, which served as vivid proof of the deep recognition the Company has built among local residents, as well as the practical, effective, and heartfelt impact of its volunteer services.

Following the visit, the KTMSS presented a certificate of appreciation to the volunteer team of Hong Kong Branch in recognition of their spirit of “sustained care, professionalism, and meticulousness” in public welfare service. To date, the volunteer team of Hong Kong Branch has carried out 12 volunteer activities, contributing a total of 585 service hours with 149 volunteer participations, benefiting nearly 1,000 community residents. In the future, the Hong Kong Branch will continue to fulfill its social responsibilities, accurately address the needs of the public, and demonstrate the commitment of a central state-owned enterprise through concrete actions.
