Newly appointed Ugandan Minister of Energy and Mineral Development visits Isimba hydropower station

At 2 p.m. local time, January 28, 2020, the new Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Mary Kitutu, visited the Isimba hydropower station undertaken by CWE, accompanied by the board chairman and CEO of Uganda electric generation company, the chairman of steering committee of the project, and other client’s representatives.


The Isimba Hydropower Station is the first stop in the inspection route of the new minister, who remarked in her speech that as one of the key infrastructure projects in Uganda, the Isimba HPP completed on schedule in March, 2019 had mitigated the nationwide power shortage and prompted local industrial and economic development. The Hon. minister also gave her praises for CWE’s well operation of the power station and stable power supply at a cheap price after completing the project construction with satisfying quality.


At the construction site of the public downstream bridge, Hon. minister gave her positive comments on the construction progress of the bridge while interviewed by local media. During the following visits of the dam crest, generator section, turbine section, and control room of the hydropower station, her Excellency also inquired about operational details of the station. After the visit and inspection, the new minister especially thanked CWE for constructing this fine quality project, with a wish for CWE to make more contributions to improve the livelihood of Ugandan people.
